Race Summary

Lewis Hamilton dominated the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, converting pole position into a commanding victory at one of Formula 1's most iconic circuits. The seven-time champion controlled the race from the front, demonstrating the Mercedes W11's superiority through the sweeping Ardennes forest. Hamilton's fifth win of the season came with relative ease, as he managed the gap to his pursuers throughout the 44-lap race.

Valtteri Bottas secured second place for another Mercedes one-two finish, while Max Verstappen completed the podium for Red Bull in third. Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest lap for Renault, showing the improving form of the French manufacturer's power unit. The race was relatively incident-free compared to recent rounds, with the high-speed nature of Spa-Francorchamps producing a more strategic contest focused on tire management and slipstream battles down the Kemmel Straight.

The victory extended Hamilton's championship lead to 47 points over Verstappen and 50 points over his teammate Bottas. Mercedes continued to demonstrate their overwhelming superiority, having now won six of the seven races held in 2020. The Belgian Grand Prix marked the end of the opening European leg of the season before the circus moved to Italy for back-to-back races at Monza and Mugello.
