Antonio Giovinazzi (born 14 December 1993 in Martina Franca, Taranto, Italy) is an Italian racing driver who competed in Formula One from 2017 to 2021. His motorsport journey began in karting before progressing through the junior single-seater ranks, ultimately finishing as runner-up in the 2016 GP2 Series. In 2017, Giovinazzi was appointed third driver for Scuderia Ferrari while simultaneously making his Formula 1 debut, twice substituting for injured Sauber driver Pascal Wehrlein at the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix. Following a season as reserve and test driver for both Sauber and Ferrari in 2018, Giovinazzi secured a full-time race seat with Alfa Romeo Racing (rebranded from Sauber) for the 2019 season, partnering with Kimi Räikkönen.
He scored his first championship points at the ninth race of the season with a tenth-place finish at the Austrian Grand Prix, becoming the first Italian driver to score points in F1 since Vitantonio Liuzzi in 2010. His career-best result came with a fifth-place finish at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. Retaining his seat through 2020 and 2021, Giovinazzi added points finishes in Monaco and Saudi Arabia before Alfa Romeo released him at season's end. Throughout his F1 career, he maintained his role as Ferrari's reserve driver, a position he has held continuously since 2017.
Following his F1 departure, Giovinazzi joined Ferrari's 499P Hypercar program for the 2023 World Endurance Championship season, immediately achieving success by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside teammates James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi, marking a triumphant transition to endurance racing with Ferrari's factory team.
