Oscar Jack Piastri (April 6, 2001 - Present): An Australian racing driver from Melbourne, Victoria, Piastri has rapidly established himself as one of Formula One's brightest young talents. He made his Formula One debut with McLaren in 2023 following a contract dispute with Alpine, after being part of the Alpine Academy from 2020 to 2022. Born and raised in Melbourne, Piastri dominated the junior formulae, winning the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup, the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship, and the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship—becoming only the third driver to win all three consecutively after Charles Leclerc and George Russell. In his rookie Formula One season with McLaren in 2023, Piastri secured two podiums, won the Qatar Grand Prix sprint race, and earned the FIA Rookie of the Year award.
His breakthrough came in 2024 when he achieved his maiden Grand Prix victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, followed by a win in Azerbaijan, becoming the fifth Australian to win a Formula One Grand Prix. Piastri played a crucial role in McLaren's first Constructors' Championship in 26 years in 2024, and helped secure a second consecutive title in 2025. The 2025 season saw Piastri emerge as a genuine championship contender, engaging in an intense title battle with teammate Lando Norris that went down to the wire. He achieved eight race victories and finished third in the World Drivers' Championship with 410 points, just 13 points behind champion Norris.
His consistency throughout the season—with 20 podiums from 24 races—demonstrated remarkable maturity in his third F1 season. As of the end of 2025, Piastri has achieved 9 race wins, 6 pole positions, and 27 podiums across 66 Grand Prix starts. Contracted to McLaren until at least the end of 2028, Piastri represents the new generation of Australian talent in Formula One, known for his maturity, racecraft, and ability to perform under pressure.
