Race Summary

Jack Brabham continued his championship march with a dominant victory at the fearsome Spa-Francorchamps circuit, taming the ultra-fast Belgian venue with a masterclass in high-speed driving. The Australian's command of the legendary 14-kilometer circuit through the Ardennes forest was absolute, as he demonstrated perfect control through the daunting sequence of flat-out sections including Eau Rouge, Blanchimont, and the Masta straight. Brabham's Cooper-Climax, while giving away considerable power to some rivals on the long straights, made up ground through the faster corners thanks to its superior handling and the champion's sublime car control. The victory marked Brabham's second consecutive win and established him as the clear championship favorite, with his consistency and racecraft proving decisive in the title fight.

Cooper secured a dominant one-two finish as Bruce McLaren brought his car home in second place, the young New Zealander continuing to demonstrate the form that made him the youngest Grand Prix winner. The result was particularly impressive given Spa's reputation as one of the most dangerous circuits in motorsport, where the trees lining the public roads offered no margin for error. Olivier Gendebien completed the podium in a privateer Cooper-Climax, making it a complete sweep for the revolutionary British manufacturer. Stirling Moss suffered disappointment when his Lotus retired, denying fans another opportunity to see the master at work. The Belgian Grand Prix confirmed Cooper's technical superiority and set Brabham on a winning streak that would define the season's middle phase.
