Biography

Paul di Resta (16 April 1986 - Present): Born in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland and raised in Bathgate, Paul di Resta is a British racing driver of Italian descent and cousin of racing drivers Dario and Marino Franchitti. Beginning karting in 1994, di Resta moved to Formula Renault in 2003 and entered the F3 Euroseries in 2005, winning the European F3 crown at his second attempt in 2006, beating teammate Sebastian Vettel. He moved to the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and won the championship at his fourth attempt in 2010 with Mercedes. Di Resta drove in Formula One for Force India from 2011 to 2013, impressing in his debut season by regularly out-qualifying his more experienced teammate Adrian Sutil.

His best result came with fourth place at the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix and sixth place finishes in 2013, including six consecutive points finishes in the first half of the year. He finished a career-best ninth in the 2011 Drivers' Championship. Both di Resta and Sutil were released by Force India at the end of 2013. After returning to DTM with Mercedes in 2014, di Resta became a reserve driver for Williams in 2016 and replaced Felipe Massa at the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix, marking his first F1 start in almost four years.
