Biography

Jolyon Carlyle Palmer (20 January 1991 - Present): British racing driver and broadcaster born in Horsham, son of former F1 driver and commentator Jonathan Palmer. Competed in Formula 1 from 2016 to 2017 with Renault. Won the 2014 GP2 Series championship with DAMS in dominant fashion, breaking the then-record for most points scored in a season (256) and most consecutive points finishes (19), becoming the first Briton since Lewis Hamilton in 2006 to win the F1 feeder series. Made F1 debut with Renault in 2016, earning his only championship points with sixth place at the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix after surviving a race of attrition.

Replaced by Carlos Sainz Jr. after the 2017 Japanese Grand Prix. Post-F1, became respected pundit and analyst for BBC, Channel 4, and F1TV. Regular columnist for BBC Sport website and special contributor to official F1 website, hosting 'Jolyon Palmer's Analysis' following each Grand Prix. Known for insightful technical analysis and articulate commentary.
