Jackie Oliver

Keith Jack Oliver (14 August 1942 - Present): British racing driver and motorsport executive who competed in Formula One between 1967 and 1977. He began his motorsport career in 1961 driving a Mini in British club saloon racing, achieving several class victories in the British Saloon Car Championship between 1966 and 1968. Oliver contested 52 Formula One Grands Prix for Lotus, BRM, McLaren, and Shadow, achieving two podiums at the 1968 Mexican Grand Prix and 1973 Canadian Grand Prix. An impressive debut in Germany finishing fifth in an F2 machine saw him signed to Team Lotus for 1968, ultimately ending the season on the podium in Mexico.

He was commandingly leading the British GP at Brands Hatch when his transmission failed. His BRM years (1969-1970) proved challenging with just four finishes and points only in the 1969 Mexican GP (sixth) and 1970 Austrian GP (fifth). Oliver had remarkable success in endurance racing, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969, 12 Hours of Sebring in 1969, and 24 Hours of Daytona in 1971 (all with J.W.

Automotive), plus the Canadian-American Challenge Cup in 1974. He was the fourth person to complete the informal Triple Crown of endurance racing. From 1978 to 1996 he served as co-founder and team principal of Arrows in Formula One, leading a breakaway group with partners Alan Rees, Tony Southgate, and Dave Wass. Oliver remained on the board until 1999 when he sold his remaining shares.
