Biography

Stoffel Jacques Luc Vandoorne (26 March 1992 - Present): Belgian racing driver born in Roeselare, West Flanders. Competed in Formula 1 from 2016 to 2018 with McLaren. Won the 2010 F4 Eurocup with FFSA Academy, 2012 Formula Renault Eurocup, and finished runner-up to Kevin Magnussen in the 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 Series. Joined McLaren's Young Driver Programme in February 2013. Made sensational F1 debut replacing injured Fernando Alonso at the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix, qualifying 12th ahead of Jenson Button and finishing tenth, becoming the first reserve driver to score points on debut since Sebastian Vettel at the 2007 United States Grand Prix.

Partnered Alonso for full 2017-2018 seasons but struggled against the two-time champion in difficult McLaren machinery. Won the 2021-22 Formula E World Championship with Mercedes after eight podiums including victory at Monaco ePrix. Currently competes in FIA World Endurance Championship for Peugeot and Formula E for Maserati. Known for smooth driving style and technical feedback.
