
Marcus Thorbjörn Ericsson (2 September 1990 - Present): Swedish racing driver born in Kumla, Örebro County. Competed in Formula 1 from 2014 to 2018, driving for Caterham (2014) and Sauber/Alfa Romeo Sauber (2015-2018). Won the 2007 British Formula BMW title with Fortec Motorsport, then dominated the All-Japan Formula Three Championship in his debut year. Secured one GP2 victory during his maiden 2010 campaign with Super Nova Racing.
Made F1 debut in 2014, becoming the first Swede in F1 in 23 years. Finished eighth at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, the first points-scoring finish by a Swedish driver since Stefan Johansson's third at the 1989 Portuguese Grand Prix. Scored points again at the 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix after 49 races without scoring. Partnered Charles Leclerc in 2018 at Alfa Romeo Sauber. Transitioned to IndyCar with Andretti, winning the prestigious 2022 Indianapolis 500, making him one of Sweden's most successful racing drivers.
