Jimmy Davies (August 8, 1929 - June 11, 1966): An American racing driver from Glendale, California, Davies competed primarily in IndyCar and USAC Championship racing during the 1950s and early 1960s. He participated in eight Formula One World Championship races (all Indianapolis 500s) between 1951 and 1960, with his best finish being seventh place in 1954. Davies was particularly successful on dirt tracks and shorter oval circuits, demonstrating the versatility required of American racers during that era. Known for his aggressive driving style and fearless approach, Davies was competitive against the era's top American drivers.
Tragically, his career was cut short when he died in a crash at Santa Fe Speedway in Illinois at age 36, another victim of the dangerous nature of motorsport during the 1960s.
