Biography

Anthony Denis Davidson (born 18 April 1979 in Hemel Hempstead, England) is a British former racing driver and broadcaster who competed in Formula One between 2002 and 2008, and in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2012 to 2021. Davidson began competitive kart racing at age eight, winning several national championships before graduating to junior formulae in 1999, where he captured titles in Formula Ford and Formula Three. After serving as BAR's test driver in 2001-2002, Davidson made his F1 debut at the 2002 Hungarian Grand Prix, replacing Alex Yoong at Minardi for two races. He remained Honda's test driver until 2007, when Super Aguri signed him to a full-time seat alongside Takuma Sato.

His career-best F1 results were three eleventh-place finishes in the SA07 at Spain, Canada, and the United States in 2007. Super Aguri's financial troubles forced the team to withdraw after the 2008 Spanish Grand Prix, ending Davidson's F1 career with 24 starts. Following his F1 departure, Davidson transitioned to sportscar racing, competing in the premier LMP1 class of the World Endurance Championship with Toyota from 2012-2017. Partnering with Sébastien Buemi, he won the 2014 FIA World Endurance Drivers' Championship and finished runner-up at the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans.
