Race Summary

Sebastian Vettel equaled Michael Schumacher's record of seven consecutive victories in a single season with a commanding performance at the Circuit of the Americas. Starting from pole and setting the fastest lap, Vettel delivered a complete display to defeat Romain Grosjean and Mark Webber at Austin's popular venue. The victory in front of an enthusiastic Texas crowd brought Vettel level with Schumacher's 2004 achievement and set up a potential record-breaking finale in Brazil.

The race showcased Vettel's utter dominance as he controlled proceedings from start to finish without serious challenge. Grosjean's second place marked an excellent result for Lotus in their final race before financial troubles would significantly impact their 2014 campaign. Webber rounded out the podium in what was becoming his familiar position - playing second fiddle to his teammate in Red Bull's moment of complete supremacy.

Vettel's record-equaling victory was particularly significant given Schumacher's legendary status in the sport. At just 26 years old, Vettel was matching achievements of drivers who many considered the greatest ever, cementing his own place among Formula 1's elite. With one race remaining in Brazil, all eyes turned to Interlagos where Vettel would have the opportunity to break Schumacher's record and cap one of the most dominant seasons in F1 history.
