Pierre Levegh (December 22, 1905 - June 11, 1955): Born Pierre Eugène Alfred Bouillin in Paris, France, Levegh was a French racing driver and sportsman. He is best known for his participation in endurance racing, notably the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the 1952 Le Mans race, he famously drove solo for over 22 hours before a mechanical failure ended his effort. Tragically, Levegh was involved in the 1955 Le Mans disaster, where his car crashed into the crowd, leading to his death and contributing to the worst accident in motorsport history.
