
Piero Taruffi (October 12, 1906 - January 12, 1988): An Italian racing driver and engineer from Rome, Taruffi was known for his versatility across various motorsport disciplines. He achieved success in motorcycle racing before transitioning to cars, where he won prestigious events like the Targa Florio and the Mille Miglia. Taruffi participated in four Formula One World Championship Grands Prix between 1950 and 1956, securing a podium finish at the 1952 Swiss Grand Prix. He was also an accomplished author, writing “The Technique of Motor Racing,” a seminal work on racing tactics and vehicle dynamics.
