Luigi Fagioli (June 9, 1898 - June 20, 1952): An Italian racing driver from Osimo, Fagioli was one of the oldest and most experienced drivers in early Formula One. He participated in seven World Championship Grands Prix between 1950 and 1951, achieving one shared victory at the 1951 French Grand Prix (shared with Juan Manuel Fangio) at age 52, making him the oldest driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix. Before Formula One's official championship, Fagioli was a successful Grand Prix driver in the 1930s, racing for Alfa Romeo and Mercedes-Benz alongside legends like Tazio Nuvolari and Rudolf Caracciola. His career spanned the pre-war and post-war eras of motorsport, providing a bridge between different generations of racing.
Fagioli died from injuries sustained in a crash during a sports car race at Monaco in 1952.
