Biography

Leslie Johnson (March 22, 1912 - June 8, 1959): A British racing driver from Walthamstow, London, Johnson was a versatile competitor who excelled in both Grand Prix and endurance racing. He participated in one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, the 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, retiring from the race. Johnson achieved greater success in sports car racing, winning the 1949 24 Hours of Spa and competing at Le Mans multiple times during the late 1940s and early 1950s. He was particularly associated with Jaguar and ERA, contributing to their racing programs through both driving and development work.

Johnson's technical knowledge made him valuable to racing teams beyond his abilities as a driver, helping advance British sports car engineering during the crucial post-war period.
