Biography

David Piper (born December 2, 1930): An English former racing driver, Piper is best known for his success in sports car racing rather than Formula One. He participated in one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, the 1959 British Grand Prix at Aintree. Piper achieved far greater success in sports car endurance racing, competing at Le Mans numerous times and winning races in various GT and prototype categories throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He was particularly associated with Ferrari and Porsche sports cars, becoming one of the most successful privateer sports car racers of his era.

Beyond driving, Piper established a significant collection of historic racing cars and participated in vintage racing well into his later years. His racing career spanned from the 1950s through the 1990s, making him one of the longest-competing racers in motorsport history.
