Walter "Walt" Ader (December 15, 1913 - November 25, 1982) was an American racecar driver from Long Beach, California, who competed in the Indianapolis 500 during the early years of the Formula One World Championship. He participated in three championship races (all Indianapolis 500s) between 1950 and 1952, with his best finish being 12th place in 1950. Before competing at Indianapolis, Ader had established himself in West Coast midget car racing and sprint car competition, demonstrating his car control skills on dirt and paved surfaces. Though he never achieved major success at the championship level, Ader was respected as a capable and consistent driver who could be counted on to finish races.
His career exemplified the many talented regional racers who got their opportunity to compete at Indianapolis during the 1950s, even if ultimate success eluded them.
