Rio Haryanto

Rio Haryanto (22 January 1993 - Present): Indonesian racing driver from Surakarta, Indonesia, who represented his country in Formula One during the 2016 season with Manor Racing. He participated in 12 Grands Prix before being replaced mid-season due to financial difficulties, making him Indonesia's first and, to date, only Formula One driver. Before F1, Haryanto showed promise in junior categories, winning the 2012 GP3 Series race at Spa-Francorchamps and finishing second in the 2015 GP2 Series championship. His promotion to Formula One was celebrated throughout Indonesia, bringing massive media attention and inspiring a new generation of Indonesian racers.

Though his F1 career was brief and hampered by Manor's limited competitiveness and budget constraints, Haryanto's achievement in reaching Formula One from Southeast Asia was significant. After F1, he has continued racing in various series including Super Formula and Formula E, while working to develop motorsport infrastructure and opportunities in Indonesia.
