
Raymond Sommer (August 31, 1906 - September 10, 1950): A French racing driver from Mouzon, Ardennes, Sommer was renowned for his endurance racing prowess before and after World War II. He secured victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1932 and 1933, driving privately entered Alfa Romeos. Sommer also competed in Grand Prix racing and participated in two Formula One World Championship Grands Prix in 1950, achieving a best result of fourth place in the Swiss Grand Prix. Tragically, he died in a crash during a sports car race at the Circuit de Cadours in 1950.
