Mika Juhani Salo (30 November 1966 - Present): Finnish racing driver from Helsinki who competed in Formula 1 from 1994 to 2002, starting 109 grands prix with teams including Lotus, Tyrrell, Arrows, BAR, Ferrari, Sauber, and Toyota. He achieved two podiums and scored 33 championship points, finishing 10th in the 1999 championship. His defining moment came when he substituted for injured Michael Schumacher at Ferrari for six races in 1999, scoring two podiums including second at Hockenheim where team orders denied him his first victory as he ceded the lead to title-challenging teammate Eddie Irvine. He also finished third at Monza.
Salo's contributions helped Ferrari win the 1999 constructors' championship by a four-point margin. After F1, he achieved great success in endurance racing, winning the GT2 class at Le Mans in 2008 and 2009, the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2014, and the American Le Mans Series GT2 title. Since 2005, he has worked as a Formula 1 commentator for MTV Oy in Finland and has served as an FIA driver steward at F1 races.
