Luigi Villoresi (May 16, 1909 - August 24, 1997): An Italian racing driver from Milan, Villoresi competed in 31 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix between 1950 and 1956. He achieved one pole position and six podium finishes, with his best championship result being fourth place in 1951. Villoresi raced primarily for Ferrari and Maserati, serving as both a competitive driver and mentor to younger teammates, most notably Alberto Ascari. Before Formula One's World Championship era, Villoresi was highly successful in Grands Prix during the late 1930s and 1940s.
He continued his association with Ferrari after retiring from driving, contributing to the team's development and serving as an ambassador for the marque. His smooth driving style and mechanical sympathy made him a valuable test driver and development partner for Ferrari's racing programs.
