Bayliss Levrett (February 14, 1914 - March 13, 2002): An American racing driver from Jacksonville, Florida, Levrett competed primarily in the Indianapolis 500 during the 1950s. He participated in four Formula One World Championship races (all Indianapolis 500s) between 1952 and 1955, with his best finish being 11th place in 1952. Levrett was known for his mechanical knowledge and often prepared his own race cars, reflecting the privateer spirit common in American oval racing during that era. His career in USAC Championship racing spanned over a decade, competing against some of America's greatest drivers at Indianapolis and other oval tracks.
Though never achieving major victories, Levrett represented the backbone of American motorsport – the independent, self-sufficient racer who competed for the love of the sport rather than fortune and fame.
